Ancient Wisdom + Yoga, Somatic Movement and Meditation

Join board-certified and licensed Chinese Medicine practitioner and yoga and meditation teacher trainer Jennifer Raye as we explore integrating the principles and theory of Taoism, Chinese medicine and meridian theory into your yoga practice, yoga teaching, and life.

In this 50-hour online course, we'll study the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine through a variety of embodiment practices, including yoga postures (yin yoga / somatic practice / active yoga), contemplative practice, meditation, breath work (pranayama), an extensive detailed downloadable manual and more. Each day will explore dynamic and recuperative yoga, anatomical study, investigation of wisdom teachings, and meditation.

Jennifer has taught thousands of yoga teacher trainees how to use these theories in their yoga practice and has offered this specific course online and in person for over a decade.

This live, extended 50-hour training starts soon - don't miss the opportunity to deepen your study!

This course is open to all levels. Our yoga school is a Registered Yoga School (RYS®) with Yoga Alliance and a continuing education YACEP provider, so students receive a certificate and can use their 50 hours for continuing education training credit.

IN OUR COURSE WE'LL COVER:

Chinese Medicine Theory and Foundations

We'll begin with an in-depth overview of Taoist and Chinese Medicine Theory. We'll cover yin and yang, the five elements, the vital substances (Qi, Blood, Spirit, Essence, and Body Fluids), how to assess and determine your imbalance using the eight principles, the origins of disease, and the six pathogens. This will give you a solid foundation as we explore how to use these principles in your yoga practice and teaching.

Yoga, Somatic Movement, and Meditation

Throughout our time, we'll embark on a dynamic exploration of the physical and energetic anatomy of the elements, organs, and subtle body meridians. This interactive learning experience will involve dynamic yoga, yin yoga, therapeutic somatic movement, meditation, and breath work. Each class will include intelligent sequencing, wisdom teachings, inspirational readings, and time for student questions and contributions.

Meridians, Sinew Channels and Myo-Fascia

In Chinese Medicine, the body is made of powerful energetic pathways or channels that transmit Qi. There are many types, including meridians related to the internal organs and "sinew channels" related to the fascia. You will discover how the meridians work and how to use them in your yoga practice and teaching. We'll also cover the locations of the channels in detail (all channels - the extraordinary AND primary channels), specific acupressure points, and myofascial release techniques to support the energetic system.

The Organs and Qi Cultivation

Each organ system has specific energetic functions along with its more well-known physical attributes. You'll learn to recognize the organs in harmony and disease and how to harmonize the flow of Qi through the energetic organs with Qi cultivation practices. We'll also explore how to apply this knowledge to your yoga sequences, making your classes more effective for specific constitutions, seasons, age groups, and concerns.

Emotional Healing, Trauma and TCM

Taoism and Chinese medicine explain emotional imbalance and trauma in a unique way. Learn how psychological states are held in the body, such as pain, myofascial holding, numbing, or collapse, and how to address these states using the meridian system and Chinese medicine theory.

Sequencing, Practice and Extensive Manual

During our study, you'll learn how to sequence your classes based on subtle energetics, the meridians, the five elements, the emotions, and organ systems. Plus, you'll receive many experiential and instructional practice videos and a long, detailed manual to guide and deepen your practice.

Advanced Topics and Applications

In addition, we'll explore many relevant examples and applications, including comparing and contrasting Ayurveda with Chinese medicine. Additional bonus topics include the function of fascia in the subtle, energetic body, common imbalances, the four examinations, how to read your tongue to understand your health, and women’s health.
